Volkswagen Group and Horizon Robotics have announced their intention to expand their partnership in the high-end vehicle market with Horizon’s HSD (Horizon SuperDrive) comprehensive intelligent driving solutions.

The newly developed high-end intelligent driving solutions from the joint venture of Volkswagen’s software technology company CARIAD China and Horizon Robotics called CARIZON, will become available in Volkswagen Group’s new models from around 2026.

The Horizon HSD system, powered by the Horizon Journey 6P, uses dedicated hardware and end-to-end software architecture to deliver, as the company describes, an “ultimate anthropomorphic experience”, with optimal traffic efficiency and smooth performance in different driving situations.

These driving situations include complex urban intersections that require U-turns on narrow urban roads, busy mixed traffic situations and internal park roads.

In addition to its driving capability, HSD includes a sophisticated Human-Machine Interface (HMI) largely influenced by triple-A video games. This interface provides rich visualization of the traffic environment and relationships between traffic participants as the system interprets them.

Horizon states this can help alleviate anxiety about human-machine trust and enhance the user experience overall.
